Grand Ave Nordic Center trails with snowmaking and world-class grooming.  It’s an outdoor enthusiast’s dream!

Grand Ave Nordic Center has been a dream, vision and reality for a number of years.  Thanks to the tremendous fund raising efforts from DXC, support from the City of Duluth along with operational ownership from Spirit Mountain.  Duluth is one step closer to becoming a world-class Nordic skiing community.

Grand Ave Nordic Center

Phase one of the GANC project is on target for opening winter 2018.  This will feature 2.5km of Nordic-specific trail with 1.5km of full snowmaking capabilities.  Daily, professional machine grooming will make this trail system iconic and user friendly all season long. 

The Grand Ave Nordic Center is located at 8551 Grand Ave.  Featuring a full service chalet, including food, beverage, Riverside Bar and Grill, restrooms, changing areas and more.  

Hours of operations are dawn to 8:00pm, when open for the season. Spirit Mountain grooms nightly.

Rental Equipment

Spirit Mountain offers rentals at the Grand Ave Nordic Center.

Adult and kids classic equipment: $10 plus tax

Upper Spirit Mountain Nordic Trail System 

The upper trail system at Spirit Mountain features 22 kilometers of beautifully wooded cross-country ski trails, double tracked with a skate lane. 

Located at 9535 West Skyline Parkway, just past the main entrance to Spirit Mountain.  A small chalet provides a changing area and restrooms.  No rental equipment available.  Ski trails are open dawn to dusk.

The Duluth Cross Country Ski Club (DXC) is responsible for maintaining and grooming the Upper Spirit Trail System, grooming and coordinating its use by various groups.

Duluth CXC Cup – December 10th – 11th

The DXC (Duluth Cross Country Ski Club) and Spirit Mountain is proud to host all three race classes on one action packed weekend: CXC Junior Cup, CXC Youth Cup and CXC Adaptive Cup.  Located at Spirit Mountain Nordic Center, this event will feature a free technique sprint on Saturday, followed by an individual start classic distance race on Sunday.
