We’re open today! Last night’s wind storm has passed and we’ll be open from 10-8 today for our usual operations

Past Updates

3:00pm Mountain Closing Due to High Winds. For the safety of our guests and staff, we are closing all downhill operations including lift service, tow rope, bunny hill, and our restaurants. Tubing hill will remain open. Our Late Night @ Lone Oak rope session is cancelled. We will post here early in the morning on Saturday with an update for the day.

Fresh snow and blue skies today! Tomorrow we've got some warm temperatures so leave your layers in the car and pack your spring skiing clothes.

Skiing is good this weekend after the storm dropped 12-16 inches on the mountain! All lifts and trails are open and temperatures are looking ideal. This is the time to get outside!

WE ARE OPEN! Today we will be open for some of the best riding of the season. The Highline Lift will open at 10am and the Spirit Express II will open at 11am after de-icing.

The storm dropped down a thick blanket of snow and has since moved on leaving us with some prime skiing conditions and temperatures in the high 20s - low 30s. If you can't make it out today, don't beat yourself up too hard. Temperatures for the next week are hanging in the mid-teens to mid-20s so this snowpack will stick around for a while.

Operations Update: We will be closed all day today - Wednesday, February 18 due to this two-day winter storm and high winds. We will assess forecasts and conditions for tomorrow and make the call in the morning. Check back here or on social.

Restaurants & Chalets - All of our operations will be closed today including our restaurants and chalets.

Adult Academy - Our Adult Academy class today is cancelled. Registrants will be contacted shortly.

Rucksack Challenge - We will postpone our ninety-pound rucksack challenge. New date TBD

Storm Closure/Delay Update: Last night's winter storm is still raging into today. Due to the high wind speeds and safety of our guests and employees, we will not open our lifts this morning but will be closely monitoring the forecasts. If the storm breaks and we can open later today, we will make that call here and on social media as soon as we know.

Early Closure Today: Spirit Mountain will close operations at 3pm today due to high wind speeds. As of 11:00am we are seeing sustained wind speeds in the mid-20s with some gusts in the 30s. Forecasts are calling for an increase in wind speeds significantly picking up after 3pm, peaking throughout the night, and trending down tomorrow morning. We will monitor wind conditions throughout the night and post here in the morning with an update for the day.

Update (12:30pm): We are closing our Highline Lift at 1pm due to high wind speeds. The Spirit Express II will continue operations.

Extended Operations for President's Weekend: We have extended our hours on Sunday and Monday for the holiday weekend. Lifts will spin from 10am-8pm every day this week. We have added glow tubing sessions for Sunday night and regular tubing sessions on Monday. Check out our holiday weekend hours here.

Did someone say SPRING BREAK? Or is it just the amazing weather that we've been having lately? Temperatures are toasty during the day, hanging out in the 40s while night temperatures drop into the 20s to keep our snow pack strong. We are expecting some snow to blanket the mountain starting on Tuesday.

Events and races: This weekend we have no races or trail closures. Coming up on Wednesday, February 18, we will be hosting a ninety-pound rucksack challenge. Learn more about this event here.

Weekend Updates: Great temperatures on our way! Friday we're seeing spring-like skiing conditions, Saturday is looking overcast with temperatures hanging out in the teens, and on Sunday, temperatures rise up into the high 20s.

MCSA Alpine Race: We are hosting the Lake Superior Division Race on February 7 & 8, 2026. Racers will be based out of the Skyline Chalet and we are recommending that non-racers base out of the Grand Avenue Chalet. Race courses will be on Gandy Dancer and Blue Ruin. Both will reopen to the public at 3:30 each day.

Warm temperatures are here to stay! Forecasts are calling for warm daytime temperatures ranging from mid-teens to mid 30s with overnight temperatures still low enough to keep our snowpack strong. Bring your lighter layers for these prime ski conditions.
