Past Updates

Warm temperatures in the forecast this weekend! Bring your lightweight gear and enjoy a few laps with the sun on your face. Lifts will spin from 10am-8pm on Friday and Saturday and 10a-6p on Sunday before moving to our spring hours.

Snowpack, Tentative Closing Date, and Spring Hours Update:

Spring Hours Start Monday - We’re adjusting our lift hours to make the most of the sunshine and best snow conditions. From March 23–28, lifts will run from 9:00am–6:00pm daily. Ticket offices will continue to open 30 minutes before lifts start spinning. Rentals, lessons, and dining hours will also shift to accompany the lift operation hours.

Tentative Closing Date - The snowpack is still holding strong, setting us up for some great late-season conditions. As we wrap up the ski season, AMSOIL Snocross National will begin building the arena in preparation for the upcoming event on April 3 & 4. If weather remains favorable and the snowpack continues to cooperate, we may be able to extend the season with a few bonus days. Stay tuned for updates.

Monday 3/16: Open for regular hours 10am-8pm. We have a fresh groom all over the mountain and will be resetting the Lone Oak Terrain Park.

Operations: Closed all day 3/15/2026. We have made the difficult decision to close today for the safety of our guests and staff. Sustained high winds from the north are expected to continue throughout the day, and we will not be opening at any point today. If you purchased tickets online, one of our team members will be reaching out to you shortly.

We will assess conditions Monday morning and post updates on our Mountain Message page and social media channels if operations are delayed or closed for the day.

Friday Delay, Conditions & Operations Update: Last night's storm dropped a heavy blanket of snow over Spirit Mountain. We are seeing 6-18 inches of powder accumulation on the mountain due to wind.

Possible Lift Operations Delay: Forecasts are calling for the strong wind gusts. We may delay our opening a bit until wind speeds are slower. We will post here and on our social media if we make that call. UPDATE 9:00am: We are delaying our opening as wind speeds have not slowed down. We are hoping that these speeds taper off and we are able to open later today. Lone Oak Terrain Park will be open at 10am. UPDATE 12:00pm: Spirit Express II is up and running. Wind gusts on the Eastern side of the mountain are still a bit high and we are waiting for those to slow down before opening Highline.

Conditions & Grooming: We are grooming the terrain park, bunny hill, and part of Four Pipe but leaving the rest of the hill ungroomed for powder skiing.

SMASH This Weekend: On Saturday, March 14, SMASH returns with pond skimming, a rail jam, costume contest, specialty drinks, live music, and a whole lot of fun. Check out the whole shebang at https://spiritmt.com/events/

3/6/2026 Icy conditions this morning all around Duluth! Our runs are in good condition and we are currently de-icing our lifts. We may have a slight delay in opening but are working hard to get everything up and running by 10am. We will post here if there is a delayed opening.

Icy conditions today in Duluth! We are working hard to get the mountain partially open at 10am. Between de-icing the lifts and grooming the slopes, we will incrementally open as we can. Our plan right now is starting in the center of the hill and working our way to the outer runs.

If you are driving to Spirit today to come ride, be careful as the roads are icy.

Update 9:45am: Delayed opening on Spirit Express II
