Past Updates

Big Lake Effect snow dump just in time for the weekend! Friday morning we woke up to a heavy blanket of fresh fluffy snow covering the mountain along with temperatures hovering just below 30 degrees. Saturday and Sunday are expected to hang out in the mid-teens while Monday could drop below 0. But when the snow is this good, you've got to get out and enjoy it! Pack extra layers, your favorite neck gator, and some hand warmers just in case.

Nordic Race at Grand Ave 1/16/2026: We are hosting a large Nordic race at Grand Ave and Lower Nordic Trails will be closed to the public until 5pm. We are expecting lots of people and are recommending downhill skiers to go to the Skyline Chalet. There is overflow parking across the street at Ski Hut if needed.

This is MLK Weekend and we have extended hours on both Sunday and Monday. Check out our hours for Sunday and Monday here!

The Spirit Express II Lift has been repaired and will be open along with the Highline lift today at 10am. The Lone Oak Tow Park is being fully reset today and will be closed until 3pm.

The forecast is looking good this week and we have snow on the radar for Tuesday and Thursday! Warm temperatures this week make for some comfortable skiing. Leave a few layers in the car and come ride.

We are evacuating the Spirit Express II as of 1:20pm on Sunday, January 11. The Big Air Chair, Highline Lift, Lone Oak Rope Tow, and the Bunny Hill will all remain open and functional. The Spirit Express had a mechanical malfunction and we will update here when we have an update.

Great skiing ahead! This weekend's forecast calls for temperatures in the mid-teens to mid-20s for prime skiing conditions. We have all runs and lifts open this weekend.

Live music: Wetland Willow and Boss Mama will be playing at the Riverside Bar & Grill from 3-5pm on Saturday. Join us for a little après ski party!

The weekend's snow has added even more to our snowpack! Skiing is perfect right now and with temperatures in the mid 20's for the week, we're looking forward to many great days (and nights) of skiing.

It's the first weekend of the New Year! And its looking good. Temperatures in the mid to high teens during the day and a bit of fresh snow on the radar for Sunday. We're seeing a lot of folks looking to get outside and embrace winter!

A few things to note this weekend:

  • Sunday marks the end of our holiday hours as things return to normal. The lifts will close at 6pm and tubing will close at 5pm.
  • Gandy and Blue Ruin will be closed to the public for a USSA Alpine Race on both Saturday and Sunday. The Highline Lift will be running earlier than 10am only for the racers.
  • The racers will be stationed out of the Skyline Chalet. Parking may be more readily available at the Riverside Chalet. Both ticketing offices should be finished with racer ticketing by the time the hill opens at 10am.

Fresh groomers and lake effect snow make today the perfect day to get outside! Spirit Mountain is FULLY OPEN including all of our lifts, runs, rope tows, Nordic centers, tubing hill, and everything in between.
