Latest Update

It's the first weekend of the New Year! And its looking good. Temperatures in the mid to high teens during the day and a bit of fresh snow on the radar for Sunday. We're seeing a lot of folks looking to get outside and embrace winter!

A few things to note this weekend:

  • Sunday marks the end of our holiday hours as things return to normal. The lifts will close at 6pm and tubing will close at 5pm.
  • Gandy and Blue Ruin will be closed to the public for a USSA Alpine Race on both Saturday and Sunday. The Highline Lift will be running earlier than 10am only for the racers.
  • The racers will be stationed out of the Skyline Chalet. Parking may be more readily available at the Riverside Chalet. Both ticketing offices should be finished with racer ticketing by the time the hill opens at 10am.

Past Updates

Fresh groomers and lake effect snow make today the perfect day to get outside! Spirit Mountain is FULLY OPEN including all of our lifts, runs, rope tows, Nordic centers, tubing hill, and everything in between.

We are opening Spirit at 1pm today, December 29th. The wind gusts have slowed down enough to allow for safe skiing!

Additional Updates:⁠

🎢 Starting at 5:30 PM, we will have glow tubing available.⁠

📚 Guests with previously booked lift tickets, rentals, and lessons will be contacted directly.⁠

⛷️ Lower Nordic is open and freshly groomed. Upper Nordic has some debris from the storm and is closed at this time. We expect it to reopen tomorrow morning. ⁠

🍔 Riverside Bar & Grill, Moosehead Saloon, and Skyline Cafe are open for normal hours.

Operations Update: We will close our lifts early at 3pm today due to high northern winds. The tubing hill will close at 5pm. Riverside Bar & Grill and Moosehead Saloon will remain open for hot food, cold drinks, and good company.

We will reopen at 10am for normal hours on Monday with fresh snow!

We are extending our hours for the holiday season! Open from 10am-8pm nightly, Spirit is home to winter fun. Enjoy downhill skiing, Nordic, and tubing all right here.

Spirit Mountain is closed on December 25 for Christmas. Starting December 26, Spirit will be open for extended hours through the holiday season. Check out our Hours Page for more information.

Holiday Week Update:

Snow conditions are looking great, with most of the mountain open and groomed nightly for smooth skiing and riding. Temperatures are holding in the 20s–30s, making for ideal winter conditions all week.

Holiday Hours Notes:
Spirit Mountain will close early at 3:00 PM on Christmas Eve (including lift service, restaurants, rentals, and both chalets) and will be closed all day on Christmas Day.

Beginning December 26, we’ll move into extended holiday hours, with all operations open until 8:00 PM each evening. Glow Tubing will be available every night throughout the holiday period, adding extra fun after dark.

Spirit Mountain will operate on regular hours for both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Operations Update: We are closing our lifts tonight due to high wind gusts. We will be open tomorrow morning for normal operations starting at 10am. Riverside Bar & Grill will be open tonight until 8pm with good food and cold beers!

Chilly temperatures this weekend won't stop us from having a good time! We are open today (Saturday) from 10am-8pm and tomorrow (Sunday) from 10am-6pm. Make sure to layer well and spend plenty of time warming up in the chalet between runs.

The Moosehead Saloon is now open for the season! To kick off the year, we are hosting Midwest Telefest's Bad Fashion Ski Party with ongoing live music, a specialty beer, and lots of goodies to give away.

Weekend Operations Update:

Winter is here and we are open full time! Between cold temperatures that kept our snowmaking guns running 24/7 and the natural snow that's fallen across the mountain, we have most of our terrain open!
