Hello Sunday Funday, and Sunday Snow Day!  4"of new snow overnight and another 1"-3" possible by this afternoon!  This is what winter should look like, and we are stoked!  The slopes are in PRIME shape, parks are dialed as well.  Winter is here...Enjoy It!

Season Passes for the 2017/2018 Winter Season and All-Time Any-Time passes go on sale March 1, 2017!  Deadline to order is April 1, 2017.

Obviously, for many out there this next link is not NEW...but for those that need some insight into Spirit Mountain, click WE ARE...enjoy!

Think Snow!

Saturday, 25 February 2017 @ 6am

A few flurries overnight, and following a solid grooming shift...the slopes & parks are in sweet shape for Saturday!  Expect a nice snow surface today and lots of sunshine as well!  Plus, we have more snow in the forecast starting later tonight and Sunday with possibly 1"-2" of accumulation.  It's still winter here in Duluth, folks....and it's a great weekend to ride-ski-tube....take a look at our video from yesterday, Friday, 2/24/17:

Friday, 24 February 2017, 11am

Good to be rolling!  The crew did a nice job on the slope prep, and all is skiing out pretty nicely here this morning.  The parks are refreshed, and ready to roll....a new reset up in the rope park and a fresh cut on the halfpipe take us into the weekend!  There are a few "spots" of caution throughout the hill and the snow surface is affectionately termed as machine groomed granular, but it's quite fun and just make sure to take it easy on those first runs to get yourself dialed accordingly.  All in all, we feel pretty fortunate to have weathered the past week of wild, unseasonable weather and our snow coverage is very solid with nearly a 2-4 FOOT+ base in most of our key areas.  Plus, looks like we could see some snowflakes falling by late-Saturday/Sunday and then the next chance of significant accumulation appears to come our way early next week.  Certainly bummed we didn't get the 6"-12"-2" that some were calling for, but that's the way the winds blow at times, and we just keep rolling along as best we can.

Snow-Tubing opens today at 4pm, and let's just say that the chutes will be super fun & quick here this evening!  It should be a great weekend to snow tube, so come check us out all weekend long and bring the entire family.

We host the Tow Up Throw Down on Saturday...stoked for our second year as part of the series.  The fresh set in our rope park will provide some great riding & sliding here for the TUTD and all weekend long for you shredders!

We do plan to host fat bike operations this Sunday from 10a-4p.  Despite the low snowpack on the downhill bike trails, we will open up Juggler Joe & Timber Cruiser as integrated ride.ski.bike trails on Sunday.  Always a good time going downhill on the fat tires, and then getting the lift ride back up top!

Definitely many good times and lots of snow here on the slopes of Duluth....sure nice to have the wintry weather back in the northland....enjoy!

Thursday, 23 February 2017, 8pm

Welcome Back Winter!  It was a solid day on the hill today as the crews have been (and continue to be) out in full force getting things ready for you!  We are excited to resume operations tomorrow at 10am.  The colder and more winter like temps have returned and we are gearing up for a great weekend to Ski, Snowboard, Snow Tube and Fat Bike!  Don't take our word for it...take a look below.

Don't forget:  Friday features "Student Specials"!  High School & younger can get lift tickets & snow tubing passes for just $15....College students we have the $19 lift tickets and snow tubing pass available.  Plus, it's Season Pass Holder Bring A Friend for $19 lift tickets.  Snow Tubing open 4pm-8pm.

Though we may not get that FOOT of snow many of us were hoping for, expect some pretty nice skiing & riding here on Friday and throughout the weekend.  We do see the possiblity of a few flakes falling here later Saturday into Sunday, with our next chance of significant accumuations early next week.  Winter is still here and not going away any time soon...make plans now to hit up Duluth!  Enjoy!

Bump In The Road

Update:  Tuesday, February 21, 2pm

Operations resume Friday, February 24.  Due to the recent unseasonable, inclement weather and projected forecasts the next couple days/nights, we will suspend operations on Wednesday & Thursday.  We will resume all ski, snowboard and snowtubing operations as per regular schedule on Friday at 10am and beyond.  Plus, we have SNOW in the forecast starting late-Thursday into Friday....maybe we see somewhere in that 2"-6" range!

It's been a tough 24-36 hours for snow enthusiasts throughout the region.  The unseasonably mild temps are one thing, but to receive nearly an inch of rain in a 12 hour period followed by continued temps above the freezing mark both day & night...well, that is challenging.  The trend of warmer temps continue here Tuesday and again overnight then throughout the day on Wednesday, but we begin to see some relief with colder temps rolling in by the overnight hours Wednesday/early-Thursday morning.  We are quite excited to see the return of the colder temps, and will be hitting the snow to get all reconditioned and prepared for the weekend.  And, yes, we are stoked to see the natural snow in the forecast as well!!

Although we lost some snow these past few days, we still have a very significant base of nearly 2' to well over 4' in most of our key areas.  We'll be 100% open with all slopes, parks and halfpipe for the weekend...and the reality is, that once the cold returns, the snow is going to groom out very nicely.  Expect conditions to be in quality shape once we roll again Friday, and keep those fingers-crossed for some FRESH snow to join the party, too!

The Tow-Up-Throw-Down event is ON for Saturday, and our park crew will be hitting the hill here to bring forth a fresh, sweet set for the weekend.  Our big park, Spirit Park, will also be getting some love as EC brings all back together accordingly throughout the jumplines, rail yards, halfpipe and more!  The plan for Friday is for Spirit Park to open at 10am and then the halfpipe & rope park will be rolling by 12noon.

Still lots of winter left here in Duluth, folks...just a little "bump in the road" as we roll along.....see ya this weekend!

Think Snow!

Update:  Monday, February 20, 6pm

We have a bit of wacky, unfavorable weather going down here in Duluth.  Due to the heavy rains today, overly saturated slopes and the continued mild temps here overnight & into Tuesday, our ski hill operations will continue to be suspended for Tuesday.  The good news is that we do foresee colder temps returning soon and perhaps some snowfall later this week, but in order to conserve snow conditions as well as provide a quality, safe snow surface...it is not in our best interest to attempt operations under the current and upcoming weather conditions.  It's difficult to say exactly when ops will resume, but hopefully the weather changes accordingly and quickly here this next day or two.

The bottom-line is we still have LOTS of snow out on the hill, and once this weather breaks, we will certainly bring all back together accordingly for all snow enthusiasts to enjoy.  We could see some solid weather changes by either Wednesday or Thursday, and definitely looks like more winter weather & possibly a few snow flakes later this week as well!

Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these next few days.  Stay tuned for updates, and we'll keep you informed accordingly....oh yeah, maybe break out those "snow & cold weather" dances...still lots of good times left this winter season here at Spirit!

Thursday, February 16 at 7:30am:

Happy Thursday!  Sitting at 23 degrees here this morning and heading into the lower 30s with partly sunny skies and some prime machine groomed packed snow conditions throughout the slopes & parks.  The halfpipe is getting a fresh cut this morning, and will open around 12pm.  Our Rope Park will also be getting some attention today with a few new resets & fresh installations, so we will open up the high speed tow & rope park at 4pm today.

Gonna be a great day....see you on the slopes!

Wednesday, February 15 at 8am:

Another beautiful start here in Duluth with temps currently around 12 degrees on the hill, light winds, an amazing sunrise and some sweet corduroy throughout the slopes & parks from the overnight grooming efforts!  Looks like partly sunny skies today with day-time temps pushing into the mid/upper 20s and then we're back into the teens overnight.  We're looking at a very nice day to hit the hill here, so hopes are you can join us!

PS - As for the weather ahead, looks like lots of sunshine starting Thursday through Sunday.  Temps start crawling up with highs in the mid-30s Thursday, low/mid-40s Friday, mid/upper 40s for both Saturday & Sunday, and then falling back to into the lower-40s by Monday.  There is a chance of some precipitation on Monday, but most models are showing this much later in the day/evening, so all in all, we have a pretty solid Presidents Day Weekend of weather to enjoy.  For those that need the reassurance, we most definitely have plenty of snow throughout the slopes and you can expect conditions to be quite nice.  With a substantial snow base of 3 to 5 FEET throughout most of the hill and the overnight temps returning to that freezing mark, the skiing & riding conditions will be pretty darn good....plus, you can certainly lose a layer or two AND don't forget the sunscreen!

Still SNOW TIME here in the Northland!

Tuesday, February 14 at 6:30am:

Thank you to everyone that joined us this past weekend! Not only were the slopes dialed and the parks prime, but we had some amazing events over the course of the weekend, too.  We're definitley most thankful for the 15" of snowfall going back these last couple of weeks, and though not looking like much in the form of snow this week (looks more like another nice round of snow could fall here around mid-next week!) the slopes are in fabulous shape as we roll throughout the week here and into the upcoming holiday weekend!  Plus, we have some great deals on midweek tickets and check out GROUPIFY-SMALL GROUPS for savings all the time!

Lots of questions about the weather, and what this will do to the slopes.  The answer, we have plenty of SNOW and the reality is that the skiing & riding will be so much fun here this week!  Temps crawled to around 40 on Monday afternoon with tons of sunshine and great snow conditions.  We are looking at daytime temps in right around 30 here through Thursday, then we will see those day temps bump into the 40s for the weekend.  The good news is that overnight temps continue to get back below the freezing mark which allows the snow to set-up very nicely as we groom out the slopes.  The even better news is that much of the week ahead is slated for lots of SUNSHINE!

So what does this mean for you?  Grab your squad and head to Duluth.  We have a significant snow base and the skiing is going to be pretty darn good.  Plus, who doesn't love not having to bundle up for the great Northland.  Get Outside and Enjoy Winter!  PS - don't forget the sunscreen!
