CURRENTLY HIRING

MOUNTAIN OPERATIONS

Lift operators play a crucial role in the daily operations of Spirit Mountain! The primary role of this position is for the safe transport of all skiing and snowboarding guests.  This involves assisting guests as they load and unload the lifts and carpet lifts.Additionally, you will be a representative for Spirit Mountain Recreation Area. Operators will have regular interaction with our guests and must have a positive, friendly, and obliging attitude when greeting and assisting them. Lift operators work outside in all types of weather.

The Mountain Operations Department is currently looking to hire approximately 20 new employees.

RENTAL DEPARTMENT

The Rental Shop is an upbeat and fun environment that gives workers the opportunity to be a central part of the guest experience. Tasks range from fitting boots, to helping guests find the perfect equipment, to tuning skis and snowboards. With so many opportunities to learn and have some fun, you will love being a part of the Rental Team at Spirit Mountain!

The Rental Department is currently looking to hire approximately 5 new employees.

FOOD & BEVERAGE DEPARTMENT

The Food and Beverage Department at Spirit Mountain manages all food outlets at the resort, including: the cafe, Riverside Bar & Grill at the Grand Avenue Chalet, Moosehead Saloon and more! The café serves up yummy quick eats in between runs, and the Moosehead and Riverside offer a sit-down bar and grill feel.

TICKET OFFICE/CASHIERS

Do you have an outgoing personality and love working with people? The ticket office would be the perfect fit for you! Customer service skills are a must-have attribute, and you will be working one-on-one with guests selling lift tickets, lessons, rental packages, and more. You will also answer any questions the guest may have about Spirit Mountain. It’s a great opportunity to hone your customer service skills.

The Ticket Office is currently looking to hire approximately 10 new employees.

ADVENTURE PARK

At Spirit Mountain, being a part of the Adventure Park team means providing the best outdoor experience possible for our guests while maintaining safety as our number one priority. While working at the park, you may sell tickets, obtain/return snow tubes, assist customers with their entry and exit on the Alpine Coaster, load/unload on the tubing lift, and more.

The Adventure Park is currently looking to hire approximately 15 new employees.

NEW SKI/BOARD INSTRUCTORS  

Spirit Mountain Snow Sports School is dedicated to providing quality instruction for our customers and excellent customer service while upholding the Responsibility Code and the overall Mission of Spirit Mountain Recreation Area. One way this is accomplished is through providing our customers with excellent and competent staff.

That’s where you come in!

If you are interested in receiving training on how to be an excellent instructor and a better skier or snowboarder, read on for more information.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. New Hire Information Meeting…. Come find out what Being an Instructor is all about November 13 at 6:30PM – Eagles Nest Chalet
  2. Come to the dry land Power Point trainings on one of the two days offered. December 2nd or 3rd at 6:00 PM, in the Eagles Nest Chalet.
  3. Sign up and come to the Instructor Training and Hiring weekend ready to be on the snow.  Tentative date is December 6th & 7th; 8:30AM –3:00PM.  Must attend both days!! BE ON TIME

Most of our openings require weekend and holiday work.  Examples of jobs include: Café workers, cooks, bussers, bartenders, servers, rental attendants, ski/board instructors, lift operators, cashiers, security, snowmakers, bus drivers, coaster operators, and Adventure Park attendants. Employee and Volunteer rate ski/ snowboard season passes are $16.18. If you have already purchased a pass, you will receive a refund upon being hired.

Guest Services Volunteers

What We Do

The members of the Guest Service Team provide skiers and riders of Spirit Mountain with information and assistance on the mountain, as well as sharing their knowledge of the City of Duluth, and the surrounding area.

The Guest Service Team will be scheduled both at the Grand Avenue Chalet and the main Chalet on Skyline.

This includes:

  1. “Meeting and Greeting” guests and visiting group busses as they arrive to our fine facility, offer grooming reports, trail maps, and provide information and directions.
  2. Help customers locate our ticket, Snow Sports, Children’s programs, and rental areas as needed. .
  3. Staff specific locations throughout the mountain at certain times during the day to provide information and assistance.
  4. Skiing or riding throughout designated areas on the mountain promoting safe skiing and riding, assisting our guests with directions, or simply offering advice on the surrounding community.
  5. Additionally, our team assists other mountain personnel as necessary.

Interested?

The members of this program must have excellent guest service skills.  You must be proactive in relating with people and enjoy assisting visitors of Spirit Mountain.  You have to love the outdoors and be able to tolerate all kinds of weather, as each day consists of shifts ranging from 4 – 8 hours. (Some of which will be outside as host are required to rotate stations)

Participants should have a thorough knowledge of Spirit Mountain, and the City of Duluth, and surrounding area. *A Guest Service Volunteer does NOT have to know how to ski or board. You can be a Volunteer and earn a Season Pass for your child/children!

School Program Volunteer Instructors

Spirit Mountain Ski Patrol Volunteer

To work at Spirit Mountain, you must have proof that you can legally work in the United States. Some jobs require a minimum age of 18 years. The pay range is $7.25 to $8.00 for most first year employees with some exceptions. All employees must have a Direct Deposit into a checking or savings account.
