Friday, November 18 at 10am:

Come On....SNOvember!

It's pretty wet and funky here on the hill right now, but we're hopeful the temperatures continue to fall and the SNOW moves in by this afternoon!  Our first significant winter weather system could be a solid snow producer as the hours unfold here Friday afternoon/evening....some project totals in the 3"-6" range, while others show the potential of double-digits!  We vote for the double-digits, but we'll take whatever we can get in the form of the wonderful white....and, perhaps even more importantly, we are awaiting snowmaking temps to roll in so we can fire up the machines!

Our snowmaking crews will be ON around the clock here throughout the weekend, and most models show our best opportunities to make snow between Saturday night and Monday morning.  We are definitely stoked, and hopeful, that all holds together accordingly with the weather and our efforts to pump out as much snow as possible for the Snocross track as well as to start covering the slopes.

We'll keep you updated here on our efforts over these next few days and nights, and obviously, we will know much more of where all stands as we roll into Monday...stay tuned.

I'm leaving up the prior post below for your reading pleasure with a few more details and insights, but....

Here we GO....and, please keep doing those snow-dances!!

Post from Wednesday, November 16:

LET IT SNOW!!

As we continue along here, all looks fairly promising for snow & snowmaking to roll into Duluth here by this Friday/Saturday!  We are stoked to finally see some winter weather, and we are hopeful that this weather system will bring us some quality snowmaking opportunities!

The BIG questions out there are what's the word on Snocross and when will the slopes open for the season:

Snocross - At this point in time, our plan is to do everything possible to make Snocross happen over Thanksgiving Weekend.  We feel fortunate to have a serious winter event moving our way, and would be pretty pumped to get that 12" of au natural from the storm...but, the reality is, we are even more excited to see the colder temps that are coming with this event.  Most weather projections show us being able to get the snowguns running by either late-Friday or early-Saturday.  If we could get in some around-the-clock snowmaking and see those projected teens, we feel there may just enough of a snowmaking window to give us a decent shot at making enough snow for the track!  Our team of snowmakers are prepared to fire up the guns as soon as temps/conditions allow, and we'll be keeping everyone informed as all unfolds here.  Wish us luck, and make certain to get your snow dance ON!

Skiing & Snowboarding - Similar to the above statements, we are very excited to get started on turning the slopes "white" for the 2016/17 Winter Season!  We'll start making snow throughout the slopes this weekend, and pretty much at any & all opportunities we can.  It's certainly difficult to say right now when we'll have enough coverage to get the slopes & lifts rolling, but wish us luck and stay tuned....we do have some ideas here to get some of you out on the hill here in the very near future!!

That's about it from here, folks.  We'll continue monitoring the weather, and we'll make sure to provide updates as all unfolds.  It is NOW offiically time for SNOVEMBER!

Monday, 14 November at 6:30am:

The GOOD NEWS - we are finally looking at some colder air moving in as we roll towards the end of the this week/this weekend.  We are hopeful this cold air will settle in for the duration and bring the much anticipated start to the winter season.  Time will tell here, but it is certainly good news to the cooler temps and looks like we'll be making some SNOW!  It's tough to truly say just how cold it may get OR how many snowmaking hours we may have ahead of us, but we're definitely stoked to simply see the weather pattern change.  Winter is taking a tad bit longer to arrive this season, but our guarantee is that we will be ready when it does roll in!  Stay tuned as all unfolds, and we will keep you updated accordingly.

Calling all DIVAS...our Mountain Diva Kick-Off event is slated for Tuesday, November 15 at The Ski Hut....click here for all details, and this is definitley one of those "just-for-the-ladies" activities you don't want to miss!!

Monday - November 7:  You wouldn't know it by the weather outside these past many days, but, it truly is the month of November.  Like many of us here around Sprit, we certainly hope you were able to get outside and enjoy the record-breaking warm temps this weekend.  Though several of us here wished we were making snow, our staff made good use of their time via hunting, mountain biking, yard work (yes, just heard from a guy that mowed his yard this past weekend!) and a few even decided to place their Christmas lights in t-shirts & shorts!  While we did the warmer temps....WE are very ready for WINTER!  Winter, cold weather and snow...where are you?  You can be assured that as soon as mother nature decides it's winter, we are ready.  The snow guns are in place and the staff is ready...just need Mother Nature to do her thing!!

In the mean time, we have a few reminders listed below for you.  Keep doing your snow dance or snow prayers or anything in between.
