Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 6:30am: Had some more flakes falling here in Duluth last night, resulting in a trace accumulation of new snow! We could possibly see a few more flurries later today, with better chances over the weekend, and perhaps Monday brings with it several inches!! It's certainly nice to have the return of the cooler temps and some fresh flakes to bring into the mix...gonna be a nice weekend to hit the slopes & parks in Duluth, and it all starts Thursday with specially-priced COLLEGE DAY tickets, rentals, food/drink options and live music from 6p-8p in the Moosehead! Enjoy!
The park crew has put forth some new sets and refreshed several areas here this week. The jumplines in Spirit Park are dialed in pretty nicely and will get a bit more love here today & Friday...featues will continue being installed here as we roll along. Our half pipe cut has been pushed back, and at this point we are hopeful to roll the cutter through here early/mid next week, which puts the pipe opening later next week! The Rope Park continues drawing rave reviews, and we're pretty stoked on the Bonk Park & Progression Line on Powder Monkey. All good in The Parks of Spirit...please be PARK SMART, and remember that "respect gets respect" while in the parks, the liftlines and all around the hill!
Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 6:30am: A "dusting" of new snow last night/overnight, and the snow is actually tilling out and setting up pretty nicely here for Tuesday. We anticipate temps into the low/mid 30s today with mostly sunny skies then lows in the upper 20s with chance of snow this evening and into Wednesday. The GOOD TIMES are still here in Duluth, folks...come join us!
Monday, January 23, 2017: WINTER IS RETURNING! Thank you to everyone that braved the foggy and soggy weather to join us this weekend. January 21, 2017 || We are in a bit of a weather funk here at Spirit. Here is the lastest of what is happening...Friday was definitley soggy & foggy, very dense fog on the hill all day as well as periods of light drizzle. By early evening we were seeing some light flurries. Overnight the fog has continued but we have not had any sort of percipitation since midnight. The groomers have been out overnight, reconditioning the snow. The snow surface is machine groomed, soft packed which will actually ski fairly nicely. As of 6am, we still have some dense fog which we anticiapte will cause some delays in opening of the Big Park. Most forecasts show the fog should lessen by mid to late morning and we could see a littel more of a wintery mix with light drizzle this morning. Yet many forecasts show snow beginning this afternoon and evening. Our plan is to keep operating and enjoying the slopes! Dress accordingly and enjoy the day. Snow Tubing is open at 11am for Saturday.
Update at 11am: due to inclement weather & safety concerns the Snow Tubing Hill will be closed today.
Thursday, January 19, 2017: Thank you to everyone that came out to see us last weekend and here earlier this week! We appreicate the many compliments, and the weather has been absolutely fabulous along these sweet snow conditions. What an amazing stretch is has been with the great snow, warmer temps, sunshine and of course Good Times Every Time at Spirit Mounain.
We do see some slightly milder weather ahead, which means softer snow, but a lot of fun too! Our plan is to deal with the weather as all unfolds, and keep rolling along accordingly. Regardless of some slightly more moderate temps and maybe a little precip that isn't entirely "white" over the weekend...our slopes and parks are in very nice shape. We will continue with some strategic grooming to keep all as dialed as possible.
For current conditions & updates, please visit our SNOW REPORT PAGE and we will keep you informed accordingly!
The park crew has been out shaping, sculpting, building and installing for much of the week. Our jumplines continue to get more dialed each day, and the crew continues some refreshing & feature installations on the Rope Park as well as Spirit Park. We will also be starting preliminary efforts on the half-pipe, and hopefully performing the initlal cut by mid next week! Our park crew is ON it...come see for youself what's happening here with The Parks of Spirit!
